Am I the professional mentor you’ve been waiting for?
Have you ever had someone say to you, “You have so much potential. You’re going to do great things.” Early in my career, people said that to me all the time. I can only hear that so many times before it starts to feel heavy.
For years, I kept waiting to feel like I was reaching my potential. My first job as a management consultant felt smothering. Starting my first company was an exhilerating experience, but I failed to generate enough revenue to keep going.
My first startup job made me feel like a race horse being kept in a stable every day. Finally, at ConvertKit, the only limitation to my growth has been my own pace of work. The harder I work, the more I grow and the more the company grows.
Along the way, I’ve learned what it takes to accelerate my career trajectory. I measure my progress in terms of the meaning I experience, the impact I make on others, and the earning potential I’m able to attain in the process. Now, I want to help you do the same.
Go from high potential to high performer at work
As I’ve accelerated my own career trajectory, more and more people have reached out to ask for advice on how they can too. I spend about 50% of my time at ConvertKit helping teammates reach their potential at work.
Unfortunately, I’m left with little time to invest in people outside of our company. Career Capital is my way of fixing that.
You can think of Career Capital as the professional mentor you’ve been waiting for, delivered to your inbox every Friday morning. You’ll get my best career advice to help you go from high potential to high performer.
Along the way, I want to help you find more meaning, make a bigger impact, and earn more money. These are some of the key ingredients to a fulfilling career.

“Speaking of paid newsletters, if you’re looking for incredible writing, you can’t do much better than my dear friend Barrett. He’s also our COO at ConvertKit, an experienced entrepreneur, writer and coach. Each week he writes about the traits, skills, and habits of high performers at the intersection of meaning and impact.”
Nathan Barry
Founder of ConvertKit“I’ve had the benefit of listening to Barrett talk fluently on the meaning of work. As someone who has hit some stagnation in his career, I know this newsletter will be the shot in the arm to aim me towards more meaningful work. I figure it’s like I’m having coffee with Barrett four times a month at about 1/4 of the cost and with no commute.”
