Change helps us grow. It’s uncomfortable, uncertain, and transformative.
We all have stories of moving as a child or going away for college or traveling abroad for the first time.
Inevitably those times are scary on the front end, and when we make it out alive, they are the most important and powerful times of growth.
Moving, exploring, and adventuring have a very similar effect on us. They put us outside of our comfort zone and force us to try new things. We seek out new people. We try new foods. We explore new places.
I won’t say that everyone should move across the country (or across the world). Perhaps that doesn’t make sense for your work, family, and personal interests. But I will say that every person should regularly and intentionally seek out opportunities to be uncomfortable. To get into your growth zone.
I’m taking my own advice on this one. It’s official: my fiancĂ© and I are moving from Atlanta, GA to Portland, OR next month. Nicole has an exciting new job opportunity and I will be joining the two Fizzle cofounders in Portland to focus on growing the company.
But what we’re most excited about is the opportunity to experience new things together. To get outside, eat new food, meet new people, and ultimately grow closer to one another through the process.
(If you care to know more about why, when, etc, you can read more on Nicole’s blog.)
What’s your next adventure?
