The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

The big idea

The Alchemist is a fable that follows the journey of Santiago, a maturing shepherd boy, as he decides to leave the only place he has ever known in pursuit of his dreams. Throughout the fable, Santiago encounters numerous mentors and teachers who help him interpret his personal legend and grow towards his full potential.

Why to read

The Alchemist is full of obvious and hidden life lessons told through Santiago’s story. You will be inspired to pursue your dreams and stay true to your own personal legend. If you are steering away from that which makes you come alive, this book will certainly challenge you to get back to what matters most. This is on my annual reading list because I want that yearly reminder to stay true to my dreams.
